“Someone Else's Future” by Lone Kodiak - Free Friday/Saturday

Free and Legal Downloads? Yes, at least temporarily. Bands often temporarily permit free downloads of their releases.  The end of an offer may be based on the expiration of a set period of time or on a limited number of downloads.  But at least for now, here is a song that qualifies as a Free, Legal and Recommended (FL&R) download.
Finding songs that can be legally downloaded is easy. The difficult task is to find legally downloadable music that we recommend. Our plan is to post at least one FL&R song each Friday (or Saturday).
Lone Kodiak isn’t interested in resting in a comfortable position. Two months ago, we featured their track “Smile.” In particular, the guitar is praiseworthy. The trio topped the track with its release of “Someone Else's Future.”

In addition to the contributions of members Dainéal Parker (vocals, guitar, keys), Daniel Alden (bass), and Andrew Smith (drums), “Someone Else's Future” includes the guest vocals of Alex Rhodes. She is exceptional.

“Someone Else's Future” will be on the 5-track album of Lone Kodiak. The album will drop on November 7, 2017. For now, the song can be downloaded without charge. But if a cost is imposed when the album is released, we will continue to recommend that music fans obtain the track.

      Quoting the press materials:
:The backstory is important here, because though Lone Kodiak is a young band, the music conveys a rich history, littered with difficult, sometimes devastating memories and profound experiences alluded to in a reflective, nostalgic tone. There was some reluctance to start again from the beginning – are we really going to put ourselves through all that again? Anyone who's done it knows it takes a lot of effort, a lot of patience, a lot of rejection, and a lot of vulnerability to become something from nothing. But once they picked up drummer Andrew Smith, who injected a kind of energy into the music they weren't expecting, they decided that if they were going to do it at all, they were going to really do it."

Lyrics of “Someone Else's Future” by Lone Kodiak
I remember you
Bringing me back to life
I would fall for you later on that same night
Could you take me home?
I'm in no shape to drive
And I'll pretend like it's forever
(Like it's not over)
Like it's somebody else's life

Oh, bury the ashes and go
It is time, it is time

Are we lost if we have no idea where we are?
Maybe it's liberty
On the earth under the stars
And I don't wanna go home
There's nothing left for me there
I'll pretend I'm here forever
(Nothing's forever)
But it's somebody else's life

Oh, bury the ashes and go
It is time, it is time
Oh, if you're thinking of following, don't
Can't you see it is time?

You were hurt by how they treated him
How they broke him into pieces
They were laughing, they just carried on
And left you here in tears
You were burning in the sunlight then
With vultures at your feet
When a stranger placed you in the shade
And covered you with leaves

(Somebody else’s life)
Oh, bury the ashes and go
(Somebody else’s life)
It is time, it is time
(Somebody else’s life)
Oh, if you're thinking of following, don't
(Somebody else’s life)
Can't you see it is time?

Oh, bury the ashes and go
It is time, it is time
Oh, if you're thinking of following, don't
Can't you see it is time?
