“Cool” by The Hunter Express - Free Friday (“FL&R”)

Free and Legal Downloads? Yes, at least temporarily. Bands often temporarily permit free downloads of their releases.  The end of an offer may be based on the expiration of a set period of time or on a limited number of downloads.  But at least for now, here is a song that qualifies as a Free, Legal and Recommended (FL&R) download.
Finding songs that can be legally downloaded is easy. The difficult task is to find legally downloadable music that we recommend. Our plan is to post at least one FL&R song each Friday.
“Cool” is a track that we enjoyed during the first listen, but could not have predicted that the song would come to populate so many of our playlists. The unconventionality of the lead vocals is appealing when it stands alone, then ideal when combined with the backing vocals. The guitars don’t demand attention; over time, the realization is that they deserve it.

The Hunter Express is an indie rock/folk project by Melbourne singer/songwriter Brad Ellis. Emerging out of Melbourne's vibrant indie folk scene, his first single, "Home," received airplay on independent stations around Australia. This December, Ellis releases his self titled debut LP. The LP expands on Ellis' collective sound, driven by his distinctive vocals and storytelling manner. The Triple J information about the project lists other contributors - Troy Downward, Juman Rahmi, Jarrad Brown, Tyler Campbell, Olaf Scott, and Matt Dixon.
