Electronic/Folktronic – Echos, The Yum Yums, and Fenech-Soler

Other blogs have a greater depth of knowledge in the Electronic genres, so we tend to leave those genres to the experts. The exceptions are songs with a gravitational pull that stops us from getting too far from their affect. For those exceptions, the tendency to leave songs to the experts is overcome by the urge to share good music.
“Leave Your Lover” is a track by Echos, the Portland duo of Lexi Norton and Tal Richards. The lyrics (included below) deserve praise, but it is Norton’s voice that brings them to life and allows the listener to experience the pain. And it is the piano that melodically establishes the mood.
Echos is scheduled to perform at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz, California on April 3. For ticket information CLICK HERE

Lyrics of “Leave Your Lover” by Echos
We should leave our lovers
And be with one another
Run your fingers through my hair
And hide under my covers

We should leave our lovers
We should run after each other
We can share our secrets
’Til they swallow one another

We should leave our lovers
We should, we should leave our lovers
But you’ll never leave your lover
No you’ll never leave your lover, no

We should leave our lovers
We should, we should leave our lovers
I need you like no other
No I’ll never find another, no

Meet me in the silence
I’ll let you cut me open
Haunt me from the inside out, slow motion
I feel you in my blood
Baby bring your body closer
Love me with your sad eyes
Drain me of my color

We should leave our lovers
We should, we should leave our lovers
But you’ll never leave your lover
No you’ll never leave your lover, no

We should leave our lovers
We should, we should leave our lovers
I need you like no other
No I’ll never find another, no

But you won’t leave your lover
No you’ll never leave your lover
I need you like no other
No I’ll never find another

I need you like no other
No I need you like no other
I need you like no other
No I’ll never find another (x2)

We should leave our lovers
We should, we should leave our lovers
But you’ll never leave your lover
No you’ll never leave your lover, no

We should leave our lovers
We should, We should leave our lovers
I need you like no other
No I’ll never find another, no

We should leave our lovers
So that we can choose each other

Germany may lead the world in the Folktronica genre. That conclusion would not have made any sense before introductions to the music of Milky Chance and The Yum Yums. In “A Pocket Full of Shells,” SEASIDE HIGHLIFE (Australia) joins forces with The Yum Yums, which is comprised of DJs Chrome, Tommy Montana, Tand Williams & Meskla.
“A Pocket Full of Shells” by The Yum Yums and SEASIDE HIGHLIFE (Note: There is some inconsistency in the band’s name. Other versions are the Yum Yums and the Yum Yum’s.)

“Cold Light” is a release by Fenech-Soler. If you only listen to the first half of the song, you are doing yourself an injustice. The energy explosion occurs in the second half. The song is on the album “Zilla.” Fenech-Soler is formed of bothers Ben and Ross Duffy.
