We are still “Indie obsessed” with Quiet Hollers’ song about post-apocalyptic reflections. “Mont Blanc” is a song that should seize attention of listeners who enjoy poetic verses and alluring vocals. The voice is calming and resolute, while the lyrics are poignant (“shed a tear for the books I shoulda read,” since the “city boy” is unprepared for the post-apocalyptic reality). It is often difficult for us to get behind a second song of a band after the first establishes such a high bar. As one exception, we are standing behind “Departure” by Quiet Hollers. The song spreads the attention, since the focus is less on the poetry within the verses and more on the quality of the instruments. The guitar steps forward in “Departure” and the piano deserves attention.
Quiet Hollers will release an album on October 23. In support of the album, they are currently touring. So far, San Francisco is not on the list. The band is based in Louisville, Kentucky and is formed of Shadwick Wilde (vocals, guitar), Nick Goldring (drums), Aaron West (strings, guitar), Ryan Scott (keys, bass) and Jim Bob Brown (keys, backing vocals).
