Visiting Some Old Friends

The songs in this post are from bands that Indie Obsessive has praised in the past, but while referring to other songs by the bands. Importantly, the songs would not be included if we didn’t find them worthwhile. In fact, for at least one of the "new" songs, we like it significantly more than the one that prompted the earlier blog post.

We introduced Pylo in May 2013. The song at that time was “Enemies.” The lasted release is “Young,” which is now our favorite by the band. To fully appreciate “Young,” some patience is required. The arrangement and vocals are interesting at the beginning, but it’s not until about the 1:45 mark that the energy kicks into full gear. And the band chant of “Shoulda known better” toward the end is perhaps the song’s best feature.
Pylo is a band based in the U.K. – Bath. The members are Matthew Aldus, James Scott, Richard Gully, Max Blunos, and Johan Jorgensen.
For now, there isn’t a Soundcloud stream of “Young.” And we didn’t have the patience to wait, so here is the Youtube upload.

Nimmo and the Gauntletts hit Indie Obsessive in November 2103, with the song “Others.” This year, “Jaded” was added to the band’s repertoire. Nimmo and the Gauntletts are from London/Brighton. The band comprises Sarah Nimmo, Reva Gauntlett, Joshua Faull (violin, bass), Hannah Rose (saxophone, keys), and Jack Williams (drums).

The track “I Heard” by Young Fathers was just posted last month. The song “Low” is featured here. The members of Young Fathers are Kayus Bankole, Graham Hastings, and Alloysious Massaquoi.

Spring Offensive contributes “Hengelo” in 2014 after providing one of our favorite songs of 2013 (“Speak”).
